TDF Open House

Brief

The Design Files supplement their existing media activities with a successful blog. When they decided to launch a temporary pop-up store, they also wanted to launch an eCommerce platform to bring together some of Australia’s leading furniture, home-wares providers and artists.

Being a pop-up store, both the physical and online store components were only open for a limited period. The site along with the existing blog was to drive people to visit the physical store and provide folks who couldn’t make it a, a simple by classy shopping experience.

Design & Strategy

On this project we worked with the folks at renowned design agency Ortolan to come up with a site design that linked with The Design Files brand while also showcasing unique architectural and physical attributes of the physical store.

To match the promotional and PR campaign, the site functionality was continually updated from teaser, to catalogue through to the full store.

Solution

We built this solution using MarketStall to provide a strong foundation for the catalogue and online store components of the platform.

We utilised MarketStall for its capacity to scale to meet the expected traffic and also its capacity to manage the number of products in the store. The store had close to 2,000 products from 100 suppliers.

Results

The Open House campaign was a raging success. The physical store had thousands of visitors in the two weeks it was open and the website had tens and tens of thousands of site visitors for the short period it was live. This was an amazing adjunct for an amazing brand.
